Indonesia Spices Export to Saudi Arabia

Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, revealed that Indonesia will start exporting food ingredients such as spices, rice and fish to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj season.

Gus Irfan, his nickname, said that the food ingredients were exported to meet the food supply for Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia.

“We are trying to export all the food eaten by Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia. This year and last year we have spices. Yesterday it was 400 tons, today 600 tons of spices,” said Gus Irfan when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday.

Apart from that, Gus Irfan is trying to export rice and fish to Saudi Arabia. He said, this step was intended so that people could feel the benefits of carrying out the Hajj pilgrimage this time.

“We will also try to get rice from Indonesia, and yes, later we will try to get Indonesian fish, all kinds of catfish. We don’t take it from other countries but we still take it from Indonesia. So that our people can also feel the benefits of the Hajj,” said Gus Irfan.

To make this happen, Gus Irfan said that his party would collaborate with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Perum Bulog, and the Coordinating Ministry for Food.

Meanwhile, the need for food supplied from Indonesia is estimated to reach 2,000 tons. The food will be distributed to 203,000 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during the 40 days of worship.

“We calculated yesterday that the need was around, not much, around 2 thousand tons. For 203 thousand pilgrims for 40 days,” he said.
