Pekalongan Regency has once again achieved significant success in the trade of its leading regional commodity. A total of 19.8 tons of robusta coffee from Pekalongan was officially exported to Greece via the Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang, bound for the Port of Thessaloniki.
This shipment marks Pekalongan’s first robusta coffee export in 2026. The commodity is produced by the Lumbung Kopi Nusantara joint venture (KUB), which collects the harvests of farmers from several areas in Pekalongan Regency.
The owner of Lumbung Kopi Nusantara, Irwan Ardiansyah, said the total coffee exported in this shipment reached 19.8 tons with a value of around IDR 1.4 billion.
“The total exports were 19.8 tons, valued at approximately IDR 1.4 billion. All of these robusta coffee beans were collected from coffee farmers in several sub-districts in Pekalongan Regency, although some came from Batang and Pemalang, but the majority came from Pekalongan,” said Irwan, Monday (March 9, 2026).
He explained that most of the coffee came from Paninggaran Sub-district and Kutorojo Village, Kajen Sub-district, which is known as one of Pekalongan’s coffee production centers.
According to Irwan, all of the coffee shipped was robusta, as requested by buyers from Greece. Demand from that country is expected to continue.
“In May 2026, we will also send three more containers to Greece to fulfill the same order,” he said.
Meanwhile, Assistant II of the Pekalongan Regency Regional Secretariat for Economic and Development Affairs, Anis Rosyidi, said the coffee exports also revive the long history of Pekalongan coffee, which has been known as an export commodity for hundreds of years.
“This moment is like reversing the romantic past, when Pekalongan coffee was an export commodity to Europe,” said Anis.
The Pekalongan Regency Government hopes that this export success will increase farmers’ incomes and open up broader international market opportunities for Pekalongan coffee.
