KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s trade mission “Where Spices Tell Stories” to the Netherlands from October 29 to November 1, 2025, generated potential transactions worth USD 14.6 million by introducing Indonesian spices and seasonings to European buyers through forums, business matching, and direct meetings with importers.
The mission aimed to promote Indonesian spices and seasonings in Europe and was attended by ten Indonesian business participants. They had the opportunity to engage directly with potential European partners and expand distribution networks through forums and business matching activities at Indonesia House Amsterdam on October 30, 2025.
“European importers recognize Indonesian spices for their superior aroma and quality. Our products also have potential to meet the growing demand for organic and sustainable food products in Europe,” said Fajarini Puntodewi, Director General for National Export Development, Ministry of Trade, in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The most in-demand products included nutmeg, white pepper, turmeric, ginger, and ready-to-use spice mixes.
Beyond the forum, participants visited major importers such as Amboina, Nesia Food BV, Bina BV, and INA Trading/Furnilux to learn about import and distribution patterns in the Dutch market.
As part of the trade mission, the Ministry also held meetings on October 31 with the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). Discussions focused on strengthening export institutions, product development, and market access for agricultural and fisheries sectors.
The trade mission’s success signals strong European interest in Indonesian spices and is expected to boost the country’s export sector.
