The National Food Agency estimates that Indonesia’s corn export capacity this year will reach 52.9 thousand tons.
“This shows that our farmers’ hard work is paying off. National corn production is increasingly solid, and the government will continue to ensure that the harvest is properly absorbed,” said I Gusti Ketut Astawa, Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization at the National Food Agency, on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Ketut said that corn export opportunities are open this year, as the quality and quantity of national corn increases without disrupting domestic demand.
This year, Indonesia has a remaining corn stock of 4.5 million tons from the 2025 procurement. Ketut stated that the remaining 2025 carryover stock can meet national demand for almost three months, assuming a monthly demand of around 1.4 million tons.
Ketut explained that the remaining corn stock from last year is an indicator that Indonesia will achieve corn self-sufficiency by 2025. According to him, this condition is the government’s main basis for establishing corn policy in 2026.
One decision was to stop importing corn for feed, seeds, or household consumption throughout the year. Ketut stated that the government believes domestic supply can meet national demand.
The National Food Agency estimates that national corn production will reach 18 million tons throughout 2026, which will be the main support for meeting domestic demand. Ketut is optimistic that a balanced supply can be maintained throughout the year thanks to the production volume.
Based on this projection, the National Food Agency estimates corn stocks at the end of 2026 will be around 4.5 million tons. The government, Ketut said, considers this amount safe enough to maintain supply and price stability.
The government sets the government purchase price (HPP) for corn through Decree of the Head of the National Food Agency Number 216 of 2025. The HPP for dry shelled corn at the farmer level with a moisture content of 18–20 percent is set at IDR 5,500 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the HPP for corn with a maximum moisture content of 14 percent and a maximum aflatoxin content of 50 parts per billion (ppb) in Bulog warehouses is set at IDR 6,400 per kilogram.
