The clove commodity from North Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has successfully penetrated the Dubai market in the United Arab Emirates, marking a new milestone for the region’s export performance.
Head of the NTB Trade Office, Jamaluddin Malady, announced that this achievement reflects the revival of NTB’s leading commodities and the growing capability of local producers to compete globally. Representing the NTB Governor during the export release event at Teluk Nara Terminal, North Lombok, Malady emphasized that such success should encourage innovation and the development of other potential commodities in the region.
He stated that this export momentum must be viewed as part of a broader effort to promote downstream processing and enhance the added value of local products. To sustain this progress, the NTB Provincial Government, in collaboration with the North Lombok District Government, is focusing on strengthening market networks, expanding financing access, and ensuring smooth export facilitation to build a sustainable regional economy.
“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), during the recent business matching event in Gili Trawangan, we secured transactions with buyers from India and the United Kingdom for 32 tons of cloves and 100 tons of cashew nuts, valued at Rp. 11,2 billion (US$673.940) ” Malady reported.
He added that this export success not only showcases the capability of NTB’s young exporters but also serves as tangible evidence of the province’s potential to support both regional and national economic growth.
Malady concluded that this milestone represents the beginning of a longer journey to expand the international reach of NTB’s key products — including coffee, virgin coconut oil (VCO), cocoa, spices, marine commodities, pearls, fish, shrimp, and lobsters — strengthening NTB’s role as a contributor to Indonesia’s global trade presence.
