The Katingan Regency Government officially launched the first export of finished products made from rattan to the United States, Wednesday (8/10/2025). The activity took place at the Dukuh Rattan Craft Industry Center, Hampangen District, and was an important milestone in the revival of the rattan industry in the area.
Over the last few years, the rattan industry in Katingan has experienced difficult times due to falling prices and weakening market demand, both domestic and international. However, through collaboration between the Katingan Regency Government and PT Harmoni Usaha Indonesia (HUI), this sector is now thriving again. Katingan is one of Indonesian Rattan Craft Export center.

This collaboration not only focuses on production and exports, but also on empowering local communities. Currently, as many as 16 groups of rattan craftsmen in various sub-districts have been involved in the process of weaving and processing the raw materials into products ready for export.
