West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) organic vanilla commodities have continued to penetrate international markets, particularly the United States, amid global geopolitical uncertainty, with exports realized in early April 2026. This continued export demonstrates the continued trust in local products despite facing global logistical and economic challenges.
The owner of UD Rempah Organik Lombok, H. Mohir Ali, said his company is still shipping, although the volume is not large. “Coincidentally, yesterday, April 1st, we just exported to America. It’s not a large amount, but it shows that we still exist and are trusted by the market there,” he said.
He acknowledged that global conflicts, including tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, have impacted the distribution chain. However, these conditions have not significantly affected demand for organic vanilla.
“For conventional (non-organic) vanilla, prices and demand may have been slightly affected or decreased due to the war. But for organic vanilla, prices have been very stable. Consumers there are even asking for more,” he said.
UD Rempah Organik Lombok is targeting organic vanilla exports of 4 tons this year, with a total production of 6 tons destined entirely for the United States market.
“Hopefully, this year we can reach 4 tons of organic produce alone. However, our total target is to produce up to 6 tons, all of which will be exported to the United States,” he added.
To support this target, the company is strengthening upstream oversight by conducting audits of partner farmers to ensure organic standards are met.
“God willing, we will maximize our efforts this year. That’s why we are currently conducting direct audits of vanilla farmers, particularly for organic certification. We want to ensure that the standards required by the US are maintained,” he concluded.
These exports are expected to continue as we strive to maintain product quality and meet international market standards.
