Wood Pellet Export to Japan

Exports of wood pellets from Gorontalo Province to Japan, both in value and volume, decreased in January 2026.

Wood pellets, with HS Code 44 (Harmonized System Code 44), are wood products and are the largest export contributor to Gorontalo Province.

However, in January 2026, exports of edible fruits and seeds/nuts (HS Code 08) reached their highest value at US$2,527,302.

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), exports through Gorontalo Province’s ports/airports in January 2026 amounted to US$1.56 million, with Wood Pellets (HS 44) destined for Japan.

Official Statistical News No. 19/03/75/Th. XX, March 2, 2026, states that the value of Wood and Wood Products (HS 44) in December 2025 was US$6,090,414, 1,563,175, and 2,791,823 in January 2025.

Exports to Japan were US$1,623,420 in January 2026, US$4,672,934 in December 2025, and US$2,827,574 in January 2025.

The value of Gorontalo Province’s exports to South Korea in January 2026 was not recorded or was blank.

Regarding Gorontalo Province’s export volume by commodity category, the following figures were recorded: Wood and Wood Products including wood pellet export (44) in December 2025 amounted to 43,100.54 tons, 11,054.99 tons in January 2026, and 20,370.17 tons in January 2025.

According to the Gorontalo Province Statistics Agency (BPS), the total export value for all commodities in January 2026 was US$4.46 million.

This represents a 47.07 percent decrease in Gorontalo Province’s export value compared to the previous month, which was recorded at US$8.43 million, according to the BPS.

Some commodities originating from Gorontalo Province are exported via ports/airports in other provinces.

The Gorontalo Province Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that US$77,999 worth of fish and shrimp/crab (HS 03) commodities were exported through Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Japan (US$62,019) and Singapore (US$20,017).

US$1,501,670 worth of processed and preserved fruit and seeds/nuts (HS 08) were exported through Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya to Russia, Germany, Syria, Italy, the Netherlands, Egypt, Poland, the United States, Norway, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Animal/Vegetable Fats/Oils (HS 15) commodity group, worth US$410,763, was exported to Malaysia (US$410,703) and South Africa (US$60).

The Various Processed Foods (HS 21) commodity group, worth US$44,590, was exported through Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya to China and US$169,823 through Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta to China and US$130,288 to Malaysia, according to the Gorontalo Province Statistics Agency (BPS).
